FPV drone for use with IZS (integrated rescue system)

Drones

DJI Avata 2

We use this drone for interventions with the integrated rescue system. Thanks to the small size and intuitive control with the DJI RC Motion 3, we can fly even to places where we would not be able to get to with larger drones. This makes it ideal for flying under the trees. So if, for example, on a search operation there is a need to check a suspicious spot under the trees, where it is not easy to see from above, or to search a watercourse under the treetops, we can use this machine. It also brings help when exploring collapsing buildings, when we can fly the drone through such a building and find out its condition from the inside, instead of a person who could be unnecessarily injured or buried with debris.

Specification

DJI Avata 2
Maximum flight time 23 minutes
Maximum take-off weight 377g
Maximum speed 27m/s (in EU 19m/s)
Maximum wind resistance 11 m/s
Operating temperatures -10 °C to 40 °C
Class C1 (EU)

DJI Avtata 2 provides greater safety during flight thanks to its enhanced image transfer technology DJI O4 (OcuSync 4.0). Two transmitters, four receivers and four antennas provide high resistance to signal interference and ensure smooth image transmission even over longer distances.

4K Camera

Thanks to the 155° camera angle and the agility of the drone, it is easy to get a wide view of the surroundings.

The 4K/60 frames per second HDR resolution on the Avata 2 perfectly captures the entire flight of the drone even at high speeds. You can also adjust the level of sharpness and noise reduction in the goggles for better quality videos.

Type events for use

A very common type of intervention will be searches for a missing person. We are able to fly through the forest in a way that we would not be able to with a classic, large drone. Other types of events might be:

  • Searching hazardous areas created by fire/building deformation
  • Searching hazardous areas due to dangerous persons – AMOK
  • Simulating a traffic accident and checking visibility from the vehicle
    • It can be determined whether or not at a particular eye level the driver of the vehicle could see obstacles

Securing the collected data

The entire DJI Avata 2 system allows recording not only within the drone itself, but also stores lower resolution video in the pilot’s goggles. In the case of losing the drone in a dangerous environment, we will not lose important data that could help in the subsequent coordination of the intervention.

Activities outside the IZS

This drone can also be used for events other than those related to the integrated rescue system. For example, for taking promotional materials. The video can be recorded in d-log colour profile and the subsequent post-processing can produce really beautiful footage. Thanks to the protective frame, an experienced pilot can then afford to fly closer to obstacles and in the event of a collision with an obstacle, the machine is unlikely to be harmed. These features make it possible to take really attractive shots.
