Drones
DJI FlyCart 30
The DJI FlyCart 30 is used to carry larger loads that conventional drones could not carry. This drone can fly with a maximum load of 40 kg (with one battery removed) for up to 9 minutes, or with a load of 30 kg (and both batteries) for 18 minutes.
The drone comes standard with a transport box, which we replace with a winch, to which the transport box can also be attached. For our operation, the winch mode is more suitable because of its universal use.
The drone falls into the category of Specific and we are currently testing its possible use for the IZS (Integrated Rescue System) units. Because of the high MTOW, the drone is equipped with advanced systems to ensure higher safety in operation – for example, a parachute or active phase radar in the directions around and below.

Winch
The load can be released from the winch automatically on landing and thus does not require manual disconnection. This is done by a mechanical lock that is secured on the winch hook. Should the cargo (or the hook itself) get caught or entangled during flight, e.g. in forest vegetation, the winch cable can be burned through to release the drone and allow it to land safely.

Slowing down the unwinding | 1 m above ground |
Use in the field
We currently own two modified nets that can be attached to the reel’s locking hook with a carabiner. These nets are used to carry material that cannot be clamped to the winch separately, e.g. a package of drinking water, coiled hose, hose dividers, a folded transport bed, a canister of gasoline for the headquarters and a lot of other small material. Separately on the hook can be fixed for example a backpack with D-program, a transport box for small things, a transport box with medical material for first aid, AED, oxygen generator and others. Alternatively, it offers additional assistance in the form of carrying supplies in the event of a flood or earthquake.
This drone has the ability to connect to its own servers using a mobile signal. It is therefore possible to transport the above materials beyond the limit of direct visibility and range of the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz signals.
Upgrade of existing projects
In addition to the classic use for support of the IZS in demanding interventions, FlyCart also allows us to modernize older projects. Thanks to the high payload capacity of this machine, it is possible to carry more sensor units to predict the spread of fire or gases or to make these sensor units more efficient overall. At the same time, it is possible to upgrade an extinguishing drone project that carried a ejection mechanism and a chemical cartridge for chemical suffocation of a fire in a confined environment (thinking for example of a housing unit).
Practical application
We have already used this drone in a tactical training event in our region, where we assisted both the Fire and Rescue Service and the Emergency Medical Service – stay tuned for more news soon.
